New Knop Law Primary School work continues

brambledown knop law playgroundExternal works continue on schedule at the site of the new Knop Law Primary School by Brambledown. Teams of men, aswell as heavy machinery from Brambledown have been onsite for several months, working for Main Contractors Sir Robert Mcalpine who are building the new School itself, with whome we have built a very strong relationship. This is one of a number of new schools we have worked on with Sir Robert Mcalpines in the last 3 years and Brambledown have worked hard to push through hard weather restrictions to ensure that the external works, civils and landscaping are all on target for the opening of The new Knop Law Primary School.

Over half a million pounds worth of work has already been undertaken by Brambledown on the Knop Law Primary school site, with still quite a bit more landscaping and finishing off play areas and a new Multi Use Games Area ( MUGA ) still to do.

The new Knop Law Primary School sits within the landscape and presides over amazing views out across the Tyne Valley, with the new two storey building rising up to provide visibility at street level and a presence within the local community. The site positioning also ensures the necessary secure and safe environment needed for the children to learn and to play.

In order to support the children in their play and learning Brambledown are constructing habitats and wildlife gardens amongst other things, and within those, as an adventurous, external classroom, a log cabin has been constructed for educational purposes, to provide the children with an alternative learning environment.
There will also be a series of terraces within the school building and landscape, which will create a hierarchy of spaces for external teaching; these will include Brambledown constructing hard landscaped social areas, the gardens and habitat areas, as well as multi use and sports pitches to the lower part of the site.
Pedestrian and cycle access to the school is encouraged, with much widened access routes being put into place by Brambledown and a dedicated court to the front of the building, promoting pedestrian priority, although carparking facilities are also being provided as standard.
Internally the new school features a range of teaching, multi use and community rooms, with the addition of an ICT suite and a dedicated music room.

Striking coloured panels provide a backdrop for the school hall which sits at the heart of the school and will be used for a variety of purposes, bringing together the school as one community.
