Houghton Primary Care Centre

Brambledown have completed Hard & Soft Landscaping works at Houghton Primary Care Centre in Tyne & Wear, on behalf of Wilmott Dixon Contractors.

Despite Damp conditions throughout August, Brambledown were able to complete large areas of planting, seeding and turfing to complete the scheme on time.

Before the Soft Landscaping was completed, Brambledown also constructed a Sensory Garden which involved seating and resin bonded gravel around picturesque pathways. Pin Kerb edging, block paving and uplighters in bollards added to the hard landscape element of the scheme.

A Trim Trail surrounded a large community garden which involved extra earthworks and soiling. The Community Garden was constructed by Brambledown towards the beginning of the external works to the scheme and included a swale Habitat. This area also houses raised planters and security perimeter fencing and gates.

Finally Brambledown constructed a skateboard area for local children to use, which would keep them from using main pathways and obstructing pedestrians.

Additional works to the scheme involved Brambledown installing underground water tanks and piping, which directed rainwater from the nearby Polytunnels, and shed, into a water tank. A hand pump was installed to enable maintenance staff to extract recycled water from the tank in the future to maintain the planting areas around the gardens.
